A police sub-inspector posted in Pune district who just lately shot to fame after profitable Rs 1.5 crore on a fantasy sports activities platform was suspended for alleged misconduct on Wednesday, an official mentioned. Somnath Zende, connected to Pimpri-Chinchwad police, breached the code of conduct by participating in on-line gaming after which talking to the media, the police official mentioned.

The Pimpri Chinchwad police chief had requested a deputy commissioner of police-rank official to conduct an inquiry and submit a report, he mentioned.

“Zende gained lottery by a web based gaming platform and after profitable a windfall prize, he gave an interview to the media. Subsequently there have been some unfavourable reactions concerning the police division… he took half in such an exercise and gave an interview in police uniform. On these two counts, he has been suspended,” mentioned the official.
